Fareham Borough Council has granted planning permission in full for all onshore cable work. National Grid IFA2 is now developing detailed plans for the delivery and installation of the cables alongside its appointed contractor, Prysmian.
The planning permission for the cables sets a condition on the impact of Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMFs) from the cables on aviation at Solent Airport.
National Grid IFA2 is currently carrying out a series of tests on the cables we are proposing to use for IFA2 and specifically the electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) they will emit. The purpose of these tests will be to provide assurance to those with an interest in Solent Airport that the cables used for IFA2 will comply with the planning conditions on EMFs and will not impact negatively on the operation of the airfield.
