Engaging with the local community and local schools is very important to all of us at IFA2. We recognise the importance of getting more people in to work in the construction and engineering industries. That’s why we are always looking for new opportunities to improve local skills and employment.
If you have any questions about IFA2’s upcoming skills and employment activities or have an event that you would like support with, please contact; email@example.com.
- We're very grateful to students from Portsmouth University Students for their work on our infographic information boards. These are now up on the hoardings at Monks Hill car park, detailing work to be done there and some important health and safety information.
- Along with our key contractors, we have made a number of work placements available to the students of Fareham College who we hope will be attracted to long term careers in construction and engineering after spending two week placements with our teams.
- We have launched our next round of engagement with local schools where we aim to engage local students in STEM and the type of careers that an interest in STEM can lead too.
IFA2 Employment and Skills Plan Progress Update
We have been visiting local junior schools as part of a wider school engagement programme, and recently visited Crofton Hammond Junior School in Fareham.
Craig Hunter, IFA2’s Assistant Commercial Manager, led an assembly with ‘Mad Scientists’, Super Sian and Electric Eddy. 90 children in Year 4 attended the session, which kicked off with a careers talk from Craig on engineering.
Super Sian and Electric Eddy then took over, giving insight into the history of electricity and teaching the year group about some of the most famous electricians.
The children were keen to get involved in an experiment to demonstrate how electric currents are conducted. The Van de Graaff generator concluded the session, and was met with delight from all the pupils!
As we continue to work on the IFA2 project, we are keen to support children living in the local area, making learning about STEM subjects engaging and fun.
Our school engagement programme is open to all local primary schools – for more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0800 0194 576.
